The IRC opened the country program in Afghanistan in 1988. Our programs span the range from humanitarian relief to early recovery and development activities, focusing on child protection, education, economic well being, health, and power. The IRC works in 9 provinces throughout Afghanistan, among which some of the most security volatile, and employs over 500 staff.
Assist with the development, management, and implementation of gender-focused and gender integration activities for all program components.
Oversee the quality of gender training package across all IRC Education projects
Train the master trainers and provide ongoing support to them in gender-related approaches
Develop and conduct new or refresher trainings for the education staff, as necessary.
Perform regular field visits to the provincial offices and randomly selected female teachers to ensure quality community participation
Attend regularly the Girls’ Education Policy WG at the Ministry and present the IRC global approach to girl’s education
Maintain regular connection with the MoE relevant departments for issues related to the CBE and community participation.
Work with the Teacher Training TA to identify and strengthen areas of mutual enforcement in order to achieve greater learning outcomes and quality learning environment.
Draft or contribute to other project reports and presentations on activities as requested and provide data analysis and report writing related to gender
University degree in gender studies, preferably master.
Three years of experience in gender studies, female participation and gender empowerment
Excellent Dari/Pashto; written and oral English language communication skills.
Knowledge of the community structure, dynamics and development.
Knowledge of the value of education in Islam, the child development and the current trends of education in Afghanistan.
Strong training and on-the-job support skills.
Ability to regularly travel to the provincial offices and target communities.
